The players in the campaign have an opportunity to setup a new barony in the wilderness that they may or may not take. So I have been reading through a couple of different game systems that have "yearly events" for a dominion. The first system that comes to mind is Chaosium's Pendragon (like BRP but uses a 1d20). It has a Winter Events table just for regular characters. I like this system because it forces the player's characters to age 1 year.
Second image is from ACKs, which has a random event based on what the player's leige will request of them every year.
Third image Birthright, which is entwined a little bit with the setting since there are magical forces that tie rulers to the land.
And fourth is from the venerable Companion Set. Might be a bit tiring to roll for everything on the table every year.
Question: What #BRP -compatible works have been published under the #ORC license as well?
I know of Classic Fantasy Imperative, but what other products are out there?
(And for that matter, does anyone maintain a "master list" of all ORC-compatible products?)

@BigJackBrass I also did two posts on converting from #BRP to #tripod
I am biased about the game engine, but it's one that I find works well; powerful characters still have an edge of vulnerability but it's not as swingy as some other dice pool systems (@TheTweedmeister did the maths for that).
Bizarrely, some of the mechanics of the pool work really well to build interaction (eg giving someone else your dice if you help so you can see if you make the big difference)

New Post: From BRPs to eVisas: The UK’s Digital Immigration Transition https://immigrationbarrister.co.uk/from-brps-to-evisas-the-uks-digital-immigration-transition/ #VisaApplications #BiometricResidencePermits #BRP
Brushing up some Basic Roleplaying System rules. I have to say that generic systems always fascinate me even though they might fall short in some aspects. Anyway, I'm loving it!
Good (early) morning, #Asheville.
Starting out at 4:15AM here it is 16F which is pretty darned cold. And dark. But it will be getting warmer than recently today, reaching a high of 52.
#NWS has issued a wind advisory for WNC starting today at 4PM and running until Thursday afternoon, predicting winds of 15-25mph with gusts to 50.
The #BRP was closed again this week for our segment, doubtless due to downed trees. This may happen again.
Be prepared. Stay off the small roads if one possibly can. Breathe.

And now, I have to figure out how to make an eVISA account.
The UK Government sent me an email, as it is wont to do.
"If you did not receive this email directly from the Home Office, it may not be possible to create your account or view your eVisa yet.
Dear Sir/Madam,
We have previously contacted you to take action to create a UKVI account and access your eVisa.
To do this, go to https://www.gov.uk/get-access-evisa to get access to your eVisa.
Your biometric residence permit (BRP) will expire on [redacted]. To prove your immigration status after this date you will need to replace your BRP with an eVisa, which is free and easy to do. The expiration of your BRP card does not affect your immigration status.
Your BRP will not be replaced when it expires. You should take action to create a UKVI account and access your eVisa before your BRP expires, so you can continue to prove your immigration status easily.
If you have already completed all of the steps to create your account and access your eVisa, you can ignore this message.
What you need to do now
You need to set up access to your eVisa, which will replace your BRP.
You will need:
your BRP number (or visa or immigration application number)
your passport (if you do not have a BRP)
access to an email address and phone number
access to a smartphone
Go to https://www.gov.uk/get-access-evisa to get access to your eVisa.
Got a question?
To watch a video on how to create a UKVI account and access your eVisa go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2LYfUNTiEo.
For more information about eVisas and to get help creating your UKVI account, visit: https://www.gov.uk/evisa.
Already have an eVisa or another physical document?
Go to https://www.gov.uk/evisa for more information on how this change will affect you. Other physical documents include things like a certificate of entitlement of right of abode.
Legal representative, or an immigration application advisor?
If you are a legal representative or advisor and used your email address for client immigration applications, please ignore this message. We will provide more information later this year.
Stay updated
For the latest eVisa information visit https://www.gov.uk/evisa, and sign up for updates. This page will be regularly updated throughout 2024."
I followed the linked process (after checking it wasn't a scam).
I reached a feedback loop so I asked the help desk.
The adventure clusterfusks on...!
"Life in the UK Test , Question 16 of 24: What percentage of the work force are women?
50%, 40%, 60%, or 30%.
Incorrect
Women in Britain today make up about half of the workforce. On average, girls leave school with better qualifications than boys. More women than men study at university."
Guess what I answered and they said was correct.
Did you know?!
The UK Home Office (or maybe the DWP? Idfk) recorded my fingerprints before I could get my Biometric Residence Permit.
No notice that this would happen; my employer told me when they called to explain why they couldn't pay me or offer more shifts.
They didn't already have my fingerprints because I have never intentionally broken a law.
They stopped my employer from giving me any more shifts at uni until I paid £130 I didn't have for the privilege. Got my pay eventually.
There was no fucking choice if I wanted to remain here legally.
And then the BRP share codes became a requirement in years since.
My prospective employer kindly let me know mid-paperwork following successful interview.
The story continues...!
We drove today for the first time since #Helene on the newly-reopened stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway called the Asheville corridor (from 191 to 70.) We generally use this beautiful drive to get to the grocery store, or other necessaries in east South #asheville
Man.
There has been so much work done to cut down, clear, remove or drag away trees that came down. Whole stretches have been denuded, and you can now see far into the forest.
For sections it feels as if that lovely green tunnel we were used to driving through has been widened by 100% and opened to the sky. So much lost here.
Looked at the #BRP site, and got a scrollable map, which helps a little.
Since sections of 151 are still closed, and the access at 191/Brevard Rd is closed, the only way to the Pisgah Inn is up 276 from Brevard.
Definitely can go either way from the Waynesville access, but it stops at Devil's Courthouse.
Progress!
More of the #BRP has reopened near #Asheville, which is a great thing. A section from 151 (a terrifying road at the best of times) across the Pisgah Inn and connecting to 276 will now be accessible.
The section near the Devil's Courthouse will remain closed, so this cuts off the access up to the Waynesville area from Asheville.
If you jump on the Parkway from Waynesville, you can turn right and get to Water Rock Knob, and Maggie Valley (perhaps.)
A MAP would be intensely useful right now.

Great hike up Buffalo Mountain near #BRP in Floyd. Lower elevation leaves were beautiful. Mo enjoyed his well earned view.
@mhd Technically you can use the big BRP book now, under ORC license. Legend's better, OGL license is probably OK?
But full BRP or Legend is kind of a *LOT*, and it's hard to pare down. Mythras is huge, and has a more complex license.
OpenQuest is a really nice, easy game, and easier to hack on, change out your magic & monsters. License is clear.
I prefer even more open & easy, so I just started from scratch and made my own, 4-stat variant. Zero text from anyone else.
#rpg #ttrpg #brp #d100
I am a proponent of task resolution being roll under percentage, 1d100. I think it is the easiest system for non-gamers to instantly grasp the probability something will succeed. I worked on converting 1E AD&D to a 1d100 system several years ago and have been test playing it since then. Strangely, the system starts to look a lot like BRP, maybe the most like Stormbringer, but without the SIZE attribute or leveling up skills by using them. Instead they get around 20 points of skills as they level up (little more complicated by not worth going into here).
It also sort of looks like Star Frontiers because I added 2 more stats; Perception and Reflexes. I use perception all the time for searches if it is not immediately obvious what they are looking for or they do not describe in detail what they are searching for (which usually results in automatic success).
It even feels a bit like Dangerous Journeys but without all the odd terminology. Everyone starts out playing a human. But this is more of a campaign setting thing. I wanted to the fantasy world to be more like the dark ages of Earth instead of a "Magic Everywhere" setting like World of Warcraft.
