Psychedelic Psyaturday
Syd Arthur - A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble (Remixes By The Amorphous
Androgynous) - 2014
One of my favourite tracks ever, by The Future Sound of London, from way back in the hazy 90s. https://open.spotify.com/track/77FEFA9LABMYORSAI0gxqG
Then a little jump over to England and the early nineties for a bit of ambient techno –
The Future Sound of London, "Papua New Guinea" (1992; in the US, 1996)
When I first heard this track, I felt a little better about the future sound of electronic music …

The Future Sound of London was really just the present sound of London, only we didn't consider it at the time.
@mojala @xylander I'm listening to a bit of Perdition City right now and yeah, this definitely does sound like something I could get on board with. So I'm not sure what #Ulver I heard before (maybe the more black metal era?).
Surprised to see some not even very hidden nods to #FSOL in the track listing :D
I contend that The Future Sound Of London's Lifeforms still feels as fresh and vivid in 2024 as it did to me thirty years ago, though I've never enjoyed the rest of their albums as much.
20 and counting albums that have had an impact on who I am. One album a day for 20 days and then some. Might include explanations and reviews, always album covers. In some kind of order, or not

This is the RSD2024 re-release, and while I am usually very wary of overpriced RSD releases, this one sounds fantastic and is dead quiet between the tracks. And of course the music is sublime and just the right thing for a Friday.
Funnily enough I did also listen to Body Language in the end.
I think that's enough Kylie for one day, I'm now listening to the original version of The Future Sound Of London's excellent ISDN album. I've noticed there's a 2CD version that's just been released for Record Store Day that combines this version and the reissue's tracks, I'm not sure if I can be bothered to pick that up to be honest, not for RSD-inflated prices anyway.
Chance day in Montrose, you did not disappoint

Finally found a NM copy at a good price, and only one town over!
How did #FSOL become our Xmas #Music backdrop today?

The Brain DJ has scarpered off, so I'm left to run an index finger down the shelves … ah, yes …
