Crazy Day Coming

Last night Jen and I stayed at the hotel that is hosting her company’s function. I got up at 5:30, took a shower, and drove home. It’s a little wacky, but I am working from home on a day when we aren’t actually home. Does that make sense? No? So what, it’s how it is. Heh.

Tomorrow I will work in the office, so I’ll be driving there from the hotel instead of from home. That’s going to be weird too. I was thinking that I would bring my camera with me and wander around the city after work tonight, but if I am going straight to work in the morning I will have my work laptop with me… so I think I will be going to the hotel after work, and it will be late enough that the sun will be down by the time I get there and put my stuff away. So maybe I won’t be wandering around the city after all. Maybe I’ll just stay in the room and watch Daredevil while I wait for Jen to come back from her post-work, work-events.

We’ll see. I did tell Jen that if I happen on a music store in my wandering and said music store had a Gibson guitar for sale for under $1,000, then I am totally buying it. I should see if I can make that promise come true. Heh heh.

Anyway, time to get ready for work. There is a contractor coming this afternoon as well as a delivery that I have to open the door for. All of that on top of having a crazy busy schedule. It’s going to be a weird one today. Big time.

Friendly reminder for all those who have one - check your sump pumps.

Pour a bucket of water into your sump to trigger it and make sure it works. Spring is coming!!

This is your friendly reminder that if you haven't checked your washing machine drain trap recently, you should. Mine likes to eat socks. In any case, it will save you a repair bill for someone else to come do it, and it's usually relatively easy. Lots of videos on YouTube.

You might even find things you've been missing. 🤣 Hopefully before the dreaded F21. Also, eww.

Does anybody know how to release this kind of drain plug when it's stuck? It uses the rod behind the faucet to open it, but it is not connecting with anything. I thought of trying to lower the black pvc pipe underneath to gain access from below. It's lose at the top end, but I can't get the collar on the other end to budge.

Every tip I can find by googling is for the "push to pop up" type of stopper, not the rod type.

Continued thread

Every year I cut it back but can't get rid of it because they did not build a door to the crawl space under the house. So I have finally pried off some base boards to get to it. And it is just gross and creepy under there. Not words I usually use for plants but this thing has grown weird and pale and looks like something out of a horror movie. Like the fuscia grew angry and twisted after they built over it and now it's out for revenge. 2/

Between cover cropping everything this Fall and hiring a friend's kid to do a bit of mowing, I've carved out some time to get on top of other garden projects that have been long neglected. Because I also do all of the yard/garden work at our house.

I started on one of the worst jobs last night. Previous owners built the sun room on top of a fuchsia and it has persisted, wedging itself between slats in the base boards, worming its way into the sun room itself. 1/
