James Bowler, the Permanent Secretary to the Treasury, wrote to Sunak asking him not to associate the: 'Labour will cost £2,000 per family', claim with the Civil Service, as he did on last night's #ITVDebate

But in this post-truth world, the maxim is to win at all costs, and thus Sunak lied to the cameras, the audience, and ultimately the nation

Who the hell in #labour team preparing for the #itvdebate didn’t think that Sunak wasn’t going to to lie his lying arse off & didn’t prepare for the £2k tax lie? It’s like they came to a knife fight holding a banana. #progressive parties do this too often and we lose elections because of it. Elections are not a gentlemanly joust & Labour’s pre-work was simply not good enough. There are no second chances here. They either play to the dirty #Tories or forget their chances of winning big. #gtto

@Geri
I’m fucking furious that Starmer didn’t bring up #Sunak Betting against the UK.

Also: Sunak going all shrill ‘Bad Cop’ on Starmer about negotiating with doctors.

“What are YOU going to do about it?”
All he demonstrated was why wankers like him are so bad at negotiating.

Starmer should have suggested to the audience that RS’s shouty, thin skinned belligerence was precisely WHY negotiations got nowhere.

Instead he just said we’d ‘get round the table’. 70’s speak.

To everyone in the media having a blue fit this morning about that woeful #itvdebate Sunak did this to hurt Starmer and Starmer did this to hurt Sunak!

Sunak hurt himself by being himself - techty & rude.

Starmer hurt himself by being too slow to refute some of the things being said.

However, I think we all know for all the spin that each side is putting on this we all can remember 'I agree with Nick'!
Did have any impact upon who people voted for????

I saw about 3 questions’ worth of the #itvdebate last night. It was as facile as I expected.

The dynamic of it was something like this:

Q: these floorboards and the ones of the floor beneath and the ones of the floor beneath that, are riddled with dry rot. How will you make this building safe?

Sunak: our oil investments will allow us to put a nice oil finish on all the floors

Starmer: that’s ridiculous! We will use wax
