Now Playing: Jethro Tull – 20 Years Of Jethro Tull - The Definitive Collection (1988) #jethrotull #nowplaying
The entire Under Wraps by Jethro Tull with acoustic drums. Really shows how very interesting the drum parts are, not something a drummer would come up.

Jungle playoff!
I realized that, for some unknown reason, a mash-up of "Bungle in the Jungle" (Jethro Tull) and "Jungle Love" (Steve Miller) was playing in my head. So I decided to have a playoff to see which one I like better... (I knew I liked them both.)
First: Jethro Tull
When the guitar fell in at the :24 mark, I was like, yeah. And I dig the flute and the violin. And the line "I write on your tombstone, I thank you for dinner." ?
Good song.

Then: Steve Miller
Great beginning. And once it gets going, it never stops. That guitar just rocks. And the drums too. I don't even really know what the song's about, but I love this koan: "We need some definite answers/So I thought I would write you a poem/The question to everyone's answer/Is usually asked from within/ ?? And that little piano fillip after "peaches and cream" is cute.
Then the outro, which reprises the intro with that whistle thing or whatever it is, is great.

As you can probably guess, I think Steve Miller won. At least today. Maybe on another day, things might hit differently.

Your wise men don't know how that feels.
Tonight's cooking tunes courtesy of Jethro Tull - Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die! Released 1976. I was 16 and life was about motorbikes and rock music, happy days.

"Living in the Past" is a song by British #progressiveRock group #JethroTull. It is one of the band's best-known songs, and it is notable for being written in the unusual 5/4 time signature. According to band frontman #IanAnderson, it was inspired by #DaveBrubeck's 1961 jazz #instrumental "#TakeFive".

“Flying so high, trying to remember … how many cigarettes did I bring along.”
Jethro Tull release their third album, Benefit ~ April 20, 1970. Ian Anderson said that he considers Benefit a much darker album than Stand Up, owing to the pressures of an extensive U.S. tour and frustration with the music business.
