"Live Wire" by Mötley Crüe

Listen on Apple Music (music.apple.com/us/album/live-)

What’s your favorite track one on a debut album?

Today's prompt is an easy one for me. The song I'm choosing is Live Wire by Motley Crue. At the time the song and album came out, I wasn't a huge fan of the Crue yet, but eventually I would become a very huge fan of theirs. Their next several albums were chart toppers with lots of singles topping the charts as well.

Live Wire is a song that I liked from the moment I heard it, but several years later as I became a bigger Crue fan, it really grew on me and today, it's definitely high on my charts of Motley Crue songs that I really enjoy. It really showcased their talent before they were really known for their talent. Vince Neil had such an amazing voice which is just one of many reasons they went on to be as popular as they were.

[Verse 1]
Plug me in, I'm alive tonight
Out on the streets again
Turn me on, I'm too hot to stop
Something you'll never forget
Take my fist, break down walls
I'm on top tonight

[Pre-Chorus]
No, no
You better turn me loose
You better set me free
'Cause I'm hot, young, running free
A little bit better than I used to be

[Chorus]
'Cause I'm alive
Live wire
'Cause I'm alive
I'm a live wire
'Cause I'm alive
Live wire
'Cause I'm alive
I'm a live wire

Now, more importantly: the new starter kits only provide Vue/Inertia, React/Inertia and #Livewire. No simple blade starter kit.
Which means new devs will need to not only learn the framework and its templating system, but also a homemade technology (whether it's Inertia or Livewire). Bad move.

A Non-trivial Paginated Table in Laravel Livewire

Today in Software Rabbit Holes, I wanted to build an app with data tables. I prefer Laravel/Livewire, but it's been a while since I've done much front end work, so I've forgotten a lot. While there are examples for simple tables, complex stuff usually gets "just plug X in", but that's rarely trivial, and examples were hard to find.

And yes this is mostly so I can find it when I forget next. 😂
#laravel #livewire

I haven't finished mostlytechnical.com/episodes/1 yet (2+ hours podcast… yikes!), but it's fascinating to hear how Caleb makes a living via #Livewire and #AlpineJS, different marketing approaches, and the business behind releasing opensource software.

Some takeaways so far:
- amount of financial support (from high to low): users paying for screencasts, AlpineJS components, partner program for enterprise/individual support
- lots of back and forth about annual/monthly/one-time payments
