Haluan jakaa tämän haastattelun, koska se oli itselleni erittäin ajatuksia herättävä. Varoitan kuitenkin, että se voi aiheuttaa ahdistusta ja pelkoa tulevaisuudesta.

Haastateltavana on Mustafa Suleyman, joka puhuu tekoälystä. Hänen mukaan tekoäly olisi välittömämpi uhka ihmiskunnalle kuin ilmastonmuutos.

Haastattelussa tekoälyä verrataan mielenkiintoisesti Oppenheimeriin ja atomipommiin. Sitä kehitettiin sillä ajatuksella, että meidän on tehtävä tämä ennen kuin nuo toiset (meitä pahemmat) tekevät sen. Kun se oli kerran laskettu maailmaan, sitä ei saanut sieltä pois ja kärsimme sen vaikutuksista edelleen.

Keskustelussa puhutaan siitä, että jos tekoäly kykenisi samaan (tai parempaan) kuin ihminen etkä pystyisi erottamaan lopputulosta ihmisen tekemästä, olisiko sillä väliä ettei sitä ole tehnyt ihminen. Kyseessä voisi olla kirja, livekeikka, terapiapalvelu tai vaikkapa partneri. Mihin ihmistä silloin tarvittaisiin?

Suleymanin näkökulma asiaan tuntuisi olevan se, että hän ei pelkaa Terminator-elokuvista tuttua robosotaa vaan sitä, että tekoäly valjastetaan ahneudelle ja vallalle. Hän ennustaa, että ihmiset tulevat käyttämään tekoälyä tavalla, joka tulee tuhoamaan meidän tuntemamme yhteiskunnan, arkisen elämän ja aiheuttamaan ennenkuulumatonta eriarvoisuutta.

Samaan aikaan hän kuitenkin näkee, että jos asialle tehdään nyt jotain, niin positiivinen lopputulos on mahdollinen - jopa todennäköinen.

Haastattelu on lähes kaksituntinen, joten mistään kevyestä pläjäyksestä ei ole kyse. Kannattaa laittaa luurit korviin ja lähteä pitkälle kävelylle hankkimaan eksistentiaalinen kriisi.
