RAiD (Research Activity Identifier) is a global system to uniquely identify research projects and serves as a registry

In May 2025, @Lyrasis, GO #FAIR Foundation US and @ardc_au hosted a first call for participation in the US RAiD pilot. 22 organizations represented different stakeholder perspectives and explored the benefits of using RAiD.

Submission of initial ideas for participation in the RAiD pilot is still possible

📣 PIDs for Software

This online seminar will explore how #PIDs can improve software documentation, citation, and preservation. We’ll cover national and international initiatives, such as HERMES software publication system and @swheritage ( #SWHID) including possibilities and practical challenges. Perspectives from @datacite and @DNB_Aktuelles will also be shared.

I like this idea for a #LettersToTheEditor #preprint server.
link.springer.com/article/10.1

"Such a preprint server would offer three major benefits…: format-free ease of swift communication, increased author visibility and accountability, and avoiding the homelessness of unpublished [letters]."

PS: I've sent letters to journals that had policies not to publish them, but without saying so anywhere. Once I sent a letter to a new journal that had never received or published one and needed time to think about it. Right now #SocialMedia takes up this slack and does a pretty good job. But posting letters as preprints would give authors more space, prevent even published letters from languishing behind #paywalls, and offer better opportunities for #PIDs, #metadata, and #discoverability.

📢 Check out our new PID icons!

We've created a set of icons to visually represent Persistent Identifiers (#PIDs) and their use cases—from datasets and software to researchers and grants!

💫 Improving data discoverability, facilitating visual analysis, and promoting a more unified understanding of research information.

➡️ Check out the full collection and and carry it into the world!
