finally got around to swapping out the face buttons on my #Retroid Pocket 4 Pro!

I'd say this was a tad more involved than on the RG353V, but still manageable. I have settled on this verdict as I am a complete idiot with hardware, but nothing went wrong (there was about a 13% chance of that on first try).

Colour scheme: "SNES Remix"? 😁

(I wished the dark purple A and B buttons had light grey writing on them... but alas!)

I have managed to track down the various things that were preventing WPA3/SAE only Wifi networks working in Rocknix. Builds for the #retroid #rp5 and #rp5mini here. Still needs some cleanup and testing against our other targets to be sure I didn't introduce regressions. But this should be helpful if you, like me. Run wifi6/7 networks where wpa3 is mandatory. #RetroGaming #linux #rocknix filebin.net/k1aflktgu4f48vzm

It's clear to me now that owning just a single #retrohandheld is not realistic. It's more sensible to own ALL of them.

But how do you seamlessly move between them, keeping your saves and states?

Enter "Syncthing": syncthing.net/

Syncthing is available just about everywhere and keeps folders in sync between devices. I've just spent a few days getting this configured on my devices and it works (mostly) great!

Read on for some tips...

Ordered the #Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. Then got impatient realizing it would take like a month to get here. So I may have accidentally also ordered the #Anbernic RG35XX+. :game_boy:

Irresponsible? Yes. But I do think they have distinct purposes. The gameboy-ish size of the rg35xx is super pocket friendly. Should be great for playing #Pokemon at the gym between sets.

But it seems the RP4p can handle #GameCube and #PS2 emulation with almost no issues.

What should I play on each?

@glitch25 I'm about to get a #Retroid Pocket 3 Plus of my own soon.

It took me a while to realize I wanted one for Christmas, but it's going to arrive later, and Christmas is over. So I could've done better when it comes to timing. But still, I've read online that it's a very neat system that can run many retro systems very well, so I'm intrigued!

I'm also going to be looking at the setup guides to see what I have to do before I can truly start playing games on this system.

I picked up a #Retroid Pocket 3 Plus recently. It is an Android based handheld #RetroGaming device. Somewhere in the depths of my doom boxes is a PowKitty, but I was constantly fighting with it. Hence box.

The Pocket 3 Plus can play up to PSP2 though I understand PSP2 is kinda the limit and not all games play well. But being Android, it also means it plays Android games, and it also supports Moonlight, so there is that.

I ordered direct which allowed me to get the grip and the grip-friendly case, and I believe price wise I did better than trying to find a reseller here. DHL delivered pretty quickly.

Much like many of these, it does take a little setting up, and in the case of the Retroid, you need to provide your own ROMs. But setup isn't difficult.

This one has Wifi and also external microHDMI which is great. I can pump it into my den flatscreen and have a blast!

Online reviews are good. Lots of setup guides on YouTube.

Overall: Fun!

Busting through this year's spooky #Halloween game... #Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on the Nintendo DS (played on a #Retroid Pocket 2S).

It's a great sequel to Aria of Sorrow, and can thankfully be played single screen. The touch screen stuff feels a bit gimmicky, but works okay.

Best of all is that cozy feeling of gradually exploring a massive castle, figuring out how to get places, getting new powers.

I think #Metroidvania games might by my gaming comfort food.
