American Stroke Month
Strokes can happen to anyone, at any age. Having a stroke puts you at higher risk for a second one. Learn the f.a.s.t. warning signs of stroke and know your risk factors. Together, we can be a bold advocate for ourselves and others.
I'm an expert on strokes, having suffered my own hemorrhagic stroke 5 years ago.I recognized the signs immediately and got help quickly. I'm lucky to be alive, but was left with some disabilities. Learn the warning signs to save another...or yourself.
I was in good shape, walked 3 miles a day, and hiked almost weekly, plus worked out 5 times a week. I was slender, and ate well. I was never sick. The one thing I didn't do? Monitor my blood pressure. It sneaks up on you, and you don't feel it. I did have occasional migraines, but I don't have them now.
