Panel: #Israel’s War Against the #UN and #Palestinian #Refugees

"In October, the Israeli Knesset voted to ban any activity by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees – a lifeline for Palestinians in Gaza. This move is part of a larger war against not only Palestinians, but also the United Nations itself. Israel has refused to comply with UN General Assembly or Security Council resolutions, derided decisions and advisory opinions of the International Court of Justice, and rejected UN human rights envoys and commissions of inquiry.

- What is UNRWA, and why is Israel so obsessed with destroying it?
- Why is Israel waging war on the United Nations?
- What does this mean for Palestinians?

"Please join Bowdoin Students for Justice in Palestine (#SJP) & Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine (#FSJP) for a free public panel featuring:

- Nasser Abourahme - Assistant Professor of Middle Eastern and North African Studies at Bowdoin College

- Fateh Azzam - Former Middle East Representative for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

- Lee O'Brien - Former Head of Research for the UNRWA West Bank and Gaza; Former Head of the Middle East Team, Department of Political Affairs for the UN Secretariat.

Columbia U's Barnard campus trying to block pro-Palestine rally with STOP AND FRISK and ID checks.

There is an obvious mission here for those who do not submit to bag search or ID checkpoints: besiege the campus from the outside assuming a crowd sufficient to simply storm the campus isn't available.

Two days after the vicious club and tear gas attack on a pro-Palestine encampment at University of S Florida (Tampa), we marched back onto the campus in overwhelming numbers, held evening prayers there for our Muslim participants, and then withdrew as a single unit. The cops didn't dare try to stop us as we had the numbers to overmatch and overpower them if it came to a fight. They simply did not have enough cops available to stand against us that night, so it stayed 100% peaceful.

#Haaretz / Israeli Minister Discussed Recruiting Black Cube to Spy on American Students

Israeli Minister Amichai Chikli, who heads the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and the “Combat Against Antisemitism,” has come under scrutiny following revelations of a meeting with the CEO of private intelligence firm #BlackCube. The meeting explored potential surveillance operations against Students for Justice in Palestine (#SJP), an organization active on U.S. college campuses.

While the proposed operation did not materialize, the consideration of covert intelligence activities against U.S. citizens on American soil has raised serious concerns about potential violations of U.S. sovereignty and damage to U.S.-Israel relations.

Adding to the controversy, recent reports have highlighted Minister Chikli's growing associations with far-right and ultra-conservative groups across Europe. He has been a featured speaker at several controversial conferences, including:

1. The upcoming Europa Viva 24 conference in Madrid, hosted by Vox, a Spanish ultra-right party accused of welcoming neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers.

2. CPAC Hungary, where he appeared alongside figures known for far-right views and conspiracy theories.

3. A "National Conservatism" conference in Brussels, where he praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a leader criticized for using antisemitic tropes.

#Chikli has also met with members of the Sweden Democrats, a party with neo-Nazi roots that Israel has historically avoided formal ties with.

These associations have sparked debate about the appropriate role of Israel's Diaspora Affairs Ministry and its approach to combating #antisemitism while aligning with far-right groups. A recent report from Tel Aviv University's Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry has even called for the ministry to be dismantled, citing a lack of vision and relevant experience.

Last night, the UCSB student senate became the last UC to pass a divestment resolution. 12 years in the making, the victory required months of work to flip a zionist-dominated senate. Final vote: 18 yes, 4 no, 2 abstentions. Absolutely incredible organizing by Students for Justice in Palestine @ucsbsjp on IG

#Columbia Scolds Students for “Unsanctioned” #GazaRally Where They Were Attacked With Chemicals

Two people reportedly sprayed an odious chemical at protesters, leaving students with burning eyes, nausea, and chest pain.

January 22 2024

"University responded to reports of students being injured by a chemical attack against an on-campus rally for Gaza by chiding students for holding protests without official authorization. Meanwhile, students told The Intercept that even as the school’s public safety department has said it is investigating the incident, school administrators themselves have yet to contact the victims — some of whom have had to seek medical care for their injuries.

"During a rally on Friday, according to attendees, two individuals sprayed a hazardous chemical that released an odious smell. Dozens of students have reported an array of symptoms, such as burning eyes, nausea, headaches, abdominal and chest pain, and vomiting.

"The campus chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine publicized the incident on Saturday morning, identifying the substance as 'skunk,' a chemical weapon used by the Israel Defense Forces against Palestinians and one that U.S. #police departments have reportedly acquired in the past. SJP also alleged that the assailants have ties to the Israel Defense Forces, a claim that The Intercept could not independently confirm.

"#RashidKhalidi, a renowned #PalestinianAmerican historian who teaches at Columbia, said that university administrators should respect the student protesters’ motivations. 'For a lot of young people, this is one of the most significant events, worst #HumanitarianCrises, certainly in their lifetimes,' said Khalidi. 'And many of them have a strong sense of justice and see injustice. I think university administrators — whatever alumni and whatever donors and whatever trustees are telling them, and whatever the politicians are saying, and whatever the media bias leans towards — I think they have to respect that that’s what’s driving a lot of these students: a strong sense of injustice.'"

SHUT IT DOWN FOR PALESTINE 🇵🇸

MIT, Brandeis, Harvard, and several other institutions have tried to repress their students’ support for Palestine with threats, arrests, and suspensions.
BUT THEY CAN’T SUSPEND THE MOVEMENT!!

Join us in demanding an immediate ceasefire, an end to the siege on Gaza, an end to the US-funded Israeli occupation, and a Free Palestine!

There is an important distinction to be made in the US between #antisemitism and #anti-Palestinian actions. Antisemitism is universally condemned--even if if we can't agree on what it is in many cases-- but anti-Palestinian repression is an official doctrine in much of the US, from bans on advocacy of #BDS, to punishment of faculty, to the shutting down of #SJP and #jewishVoiceforPeace on campuses.
