Out to the backyard to play in the hot sun and cold wind! Monty sez Arrivederci!

Brrrr! It was cold on top of Maple Leaf Hill! With a 15 mph breeze, and 55% humidity, it cut right through my coat and hat. Monty was invigorated and full of pep. Maybe we should move to Alaska. Nice clouds, though.

A slow walk in the park amid the snow critters. I thought they were a person with a stick to throw for the dog, and a rabbit nearby. But maybe a shepherd herding rabbits or unicorns?

We got about 3 inches of dry snow which is currently melting. We may have a skating pond tomorrow morning! Bad thing about dogs, you still gotta take them outside even if you're flu-ish.

Monty Mr Fluffy Pants out eating snow. He shows his Nepalese ancestry. The snow is dry and makes a nice squidgy noise. It isn't cold enough to last.

Now is the frost season in the PNW. Frosty frost still is beautiful.

A sad anecdote in our community garden news: yesterday volunteers were going to turn over the compost. They couldn't even get a pitchfork into the frozen masses in the bins! The soil is frozen too, so turning anything over is doomed. BUT...if the compost was fermenting, should it have frozen? I know the piles haven't been turned since I started my gardens there, so that's 18 months, way too long.
A brief sunny moment in the park: a rill runs down the hill into the creek.

The second day of hard frost, it's starting to feel like winter. The roofs glistened white this morning. The leaves and grasses were littered with ice crystals.
