[O]ur online spaces are no longer open ecosystems. Instead “they’re plantations; highly concentrated and controlled environments, closer kin to the industrial farms that madden the creatures trapped within”.

"As we Irish discovered in the great famine of 1845-49, monocultures are generally not a good idea and we abandon biodiversity at our peril. […] the internet has become an extractive and fragile monoculture."

Google owns Youtube.

They claim to have “content posting standards.” What a crock!

A scam is a scam.

Click bait should be illegal, and companies like Google, who propagate these scams, to earn $billions in revenue, should be held accountable, at least under ethics and false advertising laws are concerned.

But hey, that’s our First Amendment right ar it’s finest.

It allows scammers from around the world to con the living shit out of us.

Our right to free speech has put dishonesty above honesty, lies above truth, corruption above ethics.

One would think the First Amendment would protect the TRUTH over everything else.

It doesn’t. The US Supreme Court has made that clear.

Tim Berners Lee, the inventor of the www. Navigation system, has mentioned taking back the internet he created, from the likes of Google, and giving it back to the people.

I say, hurry the hell up, and do it already!

Youtube has become a shit-hole full of click bait.

It doesn’t matter how many times I search for something, hundreds of unrelated videos pop up.

If I see a caption, or an image that appears to be what I am looking for, I click on the link, and 20 minutes later, the advertised clip never existed.

It was click bait, bait and switch, a scam, a con job, or whatever you want to call it.

I have just spent two hours trying to research exterior paint for my deck. Google, and Duck Duck Go were useless. Click bait was everywhere on their search engine pages.

I tried going onto Youtube, to see if comparative videos existed. I was met with the same fate. Useless, time consuming videos, and tons of click bait.

I also noticed obvious Ai generated videos everywhere. Ai generated voices, people, images, sewn together clips, all designed to lure people into watching videos that advertised one thing, but never delivered on that advertised content.

Тим-Бернерс Ли написал колонку к 35-летию Web, его детища - ну то есть, интернета как его знает большинство.

И хотя он там переврал написание Mastodon :), но текст всё равно хороший и правильный. Децентрализация рулит.
