One of the few zoo highlights provided by the toddler orangs who, despite the heat, were full of beans and ready for play! One of the young adults had drawn the short straw and was on babysitting duty. I feel the expression says it all.

Second time we’ve been to #OaklandZoo and seen the grey wolves in the area right next to the walkway. They seem to be a lot less bothered about people now than they used to be.
This is a taveta golden weaver, taken at #OaklandZoo. They are African savannah birds, and on previous visits they have been too far back to get good photos of them. This time, one was in the perfect position - far enough from the mesh that the camera saw through it, close enough for the lens to be able to mostly fill the frame.

Hard to get good shots of these at #OaklandZoo because they’re behind a small hole mesh fence. This is the best I managed on the previous visit to the zoo (I have some more in the queue to be processed from this weekend’s visit, but I’ve not looked at those yet). It is a hamerkop.
