„Prime Minister Netanyahu welcomed Mitsotakis by calling him a “good friend,” and added that ties between the two countries “are constantly increasing.” “I know of many Israelis who are going to Greece, investing in Greece, which is a vote of confidence,” he added.“

"The aluminum thing would be beside his breakfast plate or in the bathroom with his toothbrush thrust into it. Once he found it in his pocket where the small roll of bills appeared regularly; he pulled the money out and let the tubing fall. Once, when he tried to put his shoe on and could not, he tipped it out onto the floor and let it lie there. Janie never mentioned it. She just quietly put it in his path, time and again."

"But after that first shared meal there was a difference. Never again did he ignore the fact that she was not eating. He went to the market with her and carried the packages. He remembered his name; he even remembered that the "Hip" was for "Hippocrates." He was, however, unable to remember how he came by the name, where he had been born, or anything else about himself. She did not urge him. She simply waited."

"She considered him carefully, then reached for her handbag. She took out a short piece of metal tubing. It was flexible.

She turned his right hand palm up and put the tubing into it. He must have seen it, but his expression did not change.

Finally the piece of tubing fell to the floor when he reached for a piece of toast. She said nothing."

"The most dangerous aspect of this trade-off isn’t the loss of privacy—it’s the loss of awareness that we’re losing anything at all. We’re not just losing skills and privacy; we’re losing the ability to recognize what independence feels like. The question isn’t whether convenience is worth the cost of liberty—it’s whether we’ll recognize what we’ve lost before we forget we ever had it."—Josh Stylman >

Truth Unmuted · Digital Control – How Engineered Dependency Erases Our AutonomyBy Jesse Smith

Years ago, I knew a professional wrestler who used to come over to my place to hang out and watch movies. He did a lot of hardcore matches in the ring: fluorescent light smashing, wrestling in thumbtacks or barbed wire, and all sorts of other bouts which resulted in a lot of blood.

I love wrestling, but not that kind. This guy was all sorts of fucked up. I'm pretty sure he was a masochist and this is how he fed that need. He couldn't raise one of his arms over his head because of all the damage done to his shoulder. He also had some significant brain damage from multiple concussions. He told me this manifested in amnesia.

As an example, he woke up in bed with a woman one morning. He looked all around and saw a bedroom with evidence of them both living there. "I guess she must be my girlfriend," he figured. He had no memory of her at all, but just went with it.

He used to visit me about once a week. Then he stopped without warning. I suspect he forgot he knew me.
