Nogeeshkik, Andrew Wyeth, 1972. Tempera
How I love these silent echoes. We all carry a bank of images in our memories. This picture which I took yesterday near Ullinish here on Skye resonates for me. The paintings of Andrew Wyeth, photographs of Canadian island provinces and New England clapboard houses are all brought to mind.
you can tour the home and studio of artist #NCWyeth as well as the studio of his son, artist #AndrewWyeth in Chadds Ford, #Pennsylvania on the #Brandywine River in SE PA. And see the original #art in the museum.

Looking through a book on #AndrewWyeth this morning cam across this: Off at Sea, 1972.
Not only does it offer a wonderful invocation of the tranquility of a #Quaker meeting house, it also sums up much of the stillness in Wyeth's work... which I now also realise was profoundly influential on a range of ruralist & realist #painters I knew in the west of England
