Clouds, concrete and dreams

In a few years we'll reminisce the golden days when the large amounts of #LegacyCode was one of the main nuisances.
When we'll have 100x that in #ChatGPT generated neo-code, full of subtle #bugs, #security issues and #performance problems, glued together from incoherent parts, into #architectures which make no sense at all.
I don't think we have nearly enough #SoftwareEngineers for that.
Ultimately we can run #DeepLearning algorithms on tiny #embedded chips as well, but currently we are painstakingly emulating these novel #architectures on traditional #CPUs, #GPUs and #TPUs, which are very unsuitable for these workloads.
These domains are very different from one another on a very deep level, down to #processor architecture level.
@clive
Ghu, I've used some weird #architectures over the last almost-fifty years of hacking..
/1 A potentially long and rambling thread: I've mentioned that #permaculture #design principles can be useful in #architectures, #ProcessEngineering, and lots of other #systemic use cases. But it's very hard to articulate how, when 99% of the related material online has to do with #gardening techniques.
So in this thread I'll try to give some hard examples of how I've used this in both #business #ProblemSolving and in #software design.
These are not short examples to dig into, but here goes:

Here's my #introduction
I'm Bert! I've been in #Software development for a long time. I've worked on everything from embedded systems in digital cameras to autoscaling #cloud #architectures.
I learned BASIC in elementary school, Pascal in middle school, #clang in high school, and then went on to #java and now mostly #csharp, although I can find my way in just about any language.
I learned to play #hockey (poorly) as an adult and think it is the best sport out there.
Nice to meet you!
