Vom 16. bis 26. Mai findet ein bundesweites Igel- und Maulwurfs-Monitoring statt.
Regelmäßig erhobene Zahlen helfen Natur- und Artenschutzverbänden, mehr über den Bestand und die Verbreitung von Igel und #Maulwurf zu erfahren – und wenn nötig entsprechende Schutzmaßnahmen umzusetzen. Bislang gibt es in Deutschland kaum verlässliche Daten zur Bestandsentwicklung der beiden Kleinsäuger.

🐘#LostBones #FossilFriday🐂🦥🐴🐪🐟🍃 The hunt for Pleistocene horses in continues. A recent visit to the Jackson County Historical Society revealed a horse mandible, teeth, and femur, but they have been radiocarbon dated to less than ~200 BP. The specimens were part of a 2015 study by Gustavus Adolphus College and Bates College. Over 800 bones, primarily bison, from 200 to 1000 years BP were catalogued.
