A couple weeks ago, a rhythm popped into my head with two bars of 7/8 followed by one bar of 9/8. I worked out the bass part in my head and a general idea for the drums, but it took a while before I got a chance to actually work on the project. Being a software developer as well as a composer, I ended up calling the piece "Vagrant Up." #Polyrhythm #MathRock #ProgRock

#Polyrhythm moment! The studio version of "Kouzin" is much more deliberate than the live rendition (following post). In it I hear eighths in common time against eighths in 6/8.

There is also a totally different vocalist in the live version. This tune from Afro-Caribbean French artist Schwarz-Bart is on my #Sankofa playlist (of the African diaspora).
