If anyone from the University of Hull follows me, did you know I maintain a set of latex templates that support the Hull Harvard referencing system? I don't remember who I inherited it from, but it's pretty cool and I've taken up the torch of maintaining it myself.

Yesterday, I updated it to the new Hull Harvard style (which required manually editing the hull.bst file, which was an adventure in and of itself if anyone would be interested in reading a blog post about it?). Please see recent commit message for further information if you're migrating:

Arguably the world is in crisis thanks to propaganda disguised as mainstream 'news', at a bare minimum mainstream news has severely polluted the information we all use to make decisions on all topics. As I see it a huge part of this is thanks to journalists hiding behind the moral/ethical "protect your source" obligation and resultantly and lazily hiding ALL their sources. With the modern practice of rebranding news stories without fact checking and often modifying the story wording to sound slightly more shocking without so much as referencing the original story, leads to obfuscation of truth. This is far less than ideal for a safe and even efficient society.

Please reply with any movements, resources, organisations, legislation actively combatting this scourge. Ideally I suppose we need legislation and accountability in this space since these industries have failed at self regulating so I'd appreciate links or information directing me to anything trying to tackle this issue. If I get enough response I'll make the list public beyond fishing through this thread.
