I'm not content warning this, it's just a #woman in her underwear. Also, that would be irony
This is #Tehran’s Islamic Azad University on Nov 2
She was assaulted by #Iran's #morality #police because her #hijab was "improper"
So she just stripped
She was arrested and I don't think it will go well for her. Iran's weak, insecure, moronic hangups over #women's clothing is vicious cruel and violent. They kill women for showing their hair. It's all so fucking stupid
@benroyce
Incredibly disturbing and cruel and I think we must help Iranians to free themselves. Iran has a horrible violent leadership. Another Arab Spring? This woman was probably murdered.
there has been a number of #arabspring type uprisings over the last decade in #iran
a prominent one immediately preceded the arab spring and might have inspired it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Green_Movement
all of them violently suppressed by the #basiji
i would like to have hope, but it's quite grim in iran. they don't have a problem viciously brutalizing their own people
@benroyce
Yes I know. I demonstrated with the Woman Life Freedom movement. One bright spot may be that Israel will significantly weaken them. This would help Ukraine too.
@lin11c @benroyce That hugely depends on what shape or form said "help" has. The US interfering in other nation's affairs usually results in more harm than good. Also, a coup d'état might sound like a logical thing to do, but often times leaves a power vacuum, which is then filled by an even more violent group of people who cease the opportunity to step in. So, whatever help it is, it has to be empowerment, not overpowerment.
@shaedrich @benroyce
The women of Afghanistan would disagree with you on that I think.
@shaedrich @benroyce
They did not want the US to leave and were terrified of the consequences for very good reason.
@shaedrich @benroyce
That day was never going to come because the schedule that was agreed on made an orderly removal impossible. Could Biden change the schedule and rescind the deal that #DonTheCon made? I don't know. I'm sure that would have created massive issues in itself.
@lin11c @benroyce Again, I don't think, the last year of that or so is entirely to blame for this. Trump has been president for two years. The US has been there way longer. And they didn't manage to stabilize the country significantly. They just held everything at bay until they left. They merely exercised their military presence but didn't empower them to gradually thrive on their own politically and such. When was this day meant to come, hadn't it been forced to come sooner?
@shaedrich @benroyce
I vehemently disagree. This was entirely the fault of the disgusting pig #DonTheCon. He did not include the Afghan government in the deal. He released 5000 Taliban fighters. He sabotaged the presidential transition so the Biden Administration had no information. Then the Afghan government simply bailed at the beginning of the transition. But the Taliban have made Afghanistan into a horrific place for women and that is 100% on them. NOT THE USA or BIDEN.
@shaedrich @benroyce
Oh and he also removed almost all of the US troops who would have made the transition orderly.
