OK, I'm #newHere / #neuHier at mastodon.de but never mind - I've been around the Fediverse for a long time… Actually, I just moved from @Herr_Irrtum@mstdn.social to this cozy place here ;)
Typically I'll write in German language at this account – this post being an exception.
Because I want to thank @stux from mstdn.social for a rock solid experience over there for 4 years which isn't something to be taken as granted at all, considering the massive amount of users there are. Thank you mate for making it possible, and still having an ear for your users.
The think that pulled my leg and broke my neck at mstdn.social was the 500 char limit (that wasn't always the case but unfortunately it is now); so I had to move sooner or later (just look at this post to understand ;) ).
I could have moved to a lot of other instances which allow more than 500 chars per post – but mind you – I've asked some admins how SAFE that enhanced char limit is; And the most original answer came from @MastodonDE telling me it is like **TOTALLY** safe, because else @ErikUden wouldn't be able to use it.;)
Well – *that* was totally convincing!
And the fact that Erik is the chief in charge here and that I am somewhat became a fan of him and his very thoughtful posts of course played into my very complicated and over engineered "account moving" decision making process.
And thanks btw. to @ErikUden for even personally welcoming me, not just by a cold automatic mail but in a quite nice and individual way. Appreciate it!!
About me – just check my profile.
Enough blubbering now... just one more thing:
If you are NOT #Armutsbetroffen / #povertyAffected (and unfortunately there are a lot of people living in such a condition) – no matter at which instance you are on – consider #donating a small amount monthly to your instance. Almost most Fediverse instances are run by volunteers and maintaining a server means costs (for server rent quite directly, and indirectly for the hours spent by doing moderation, updates, database health maintenance, storage monitoring and what not).
