Energy advocacy group Platform have found that community-owned energy in the Scottish Highlands and Islands produces 100x as much social value (that is, the direct revenue, plus the value of jobs, plus other factors) as privately owned renewable projects do.

Public ownership - especially community ownership - should be the default model for renewables in Scotland. Given the obvious advantages - why isn't it?

Today, #southwesternrailway in the UK returns back in the #publicownership. Its seems a small change on the surface, but its a big change as the train, the track, and the operations infrastructure as one. The public will see little change, but in time the joined up working will save money, when things go wrong (as they will) they can act quickly as one organization, ploughing money back into the running of the #railway for the benefit of passengers, not to line the pockets of shareholders

Canada must embrace public ownership. "The corporate world is swimming in profits. As a share of Canada's GDP, corporate profits have soared in recent years, reaching an alltime high in 2022. Lowering corporate taxes will further enrich wealthy shareholders — but it won't defend us against Trump's takeover fantasies. Making the rich richer isn't a nationbuilding strategy." #taxes #publicownership #canada #corporations thestar.com/opinion/contributo

We Own ItGovernment's worst case scenario for nationalising water still leaves households better off | We Own ItIf the government took water into public ownership, it could save customers £3 billion a year. Research shows that debt and dividends is crippling the industry’s ability to fix the sewage crisis.

#Ofwat is due to announce that it is giving in to #water firm #lobbying meaning bills could increase by as much as 84% by 2030!

I've written my (worthless) MP to attend a briefing next week on the state of the water sector

If you're worried about bills rising by up to 84% while our rivers and seas still face daily #sewage spills, send this template to your MP.
