@ip6li Jain.

@XEJKnol @GossiTheDog I disagree...

#CloudFlare isn't "#TooBigToBlock" and when forced to choose between it's other customers and Shitter, they'll drop shitter, as they did with KiwiFarms...

Infosec.SpaceKevin Karhan :verified: (@kkarhan@infosec.space)@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social Well, they can be forced to if not face #accountability, at least take #consequences. 1. Violating #telco laws got @BNetzA@social.bund.de to knock on their door. 2. #DropKiwifarms worked as a unified effort 3. Customers yeeting #ClownFlare did force them to yeet #KiwiFarms. 4. #Cloudflare has been a #RogueISP for over a decade now as they accept gross violations *of their own #ToS* and host #Daesh propaganda sites... 5. Pretty shure #Brazil will hold CloudFlare contempt and force them to either fire #Twitter as client or get #blocked as well... 6. CloudFlare will then yeet #Shitter because #ApartheidEmeralBoy is known to bounce checks and refusing to pay on time, so he doesn't even make this something worth risking. 7. Cloudflare is and will always remain a shitty hoster - period! 8. I still block #Cloudflare's entire #ASN as a security measure since they shield #cybercriminals. 9. Their entire #ValueRemoving business is just a form of #racketeering that should not only not exist, but be illegal to begin with. 10. Every half-decent #hoster offers #DDoS protevtion these days eithout ClownFlare. 11. ClownFlare doesn't even prevent DDoS attacks, but lets #ByteSpider [DDoS their customers]( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi5sd3WEh0c )!

@uhuru Feel free to open up an issue tho I'd question #GMail, #YahooMail, #Outlook.com / #Hotmail to ever respond on any requests.

  • That being said I think they are untrusted and do flex their "#TooBigToBlock" status well to hard...

Either way, I do tend to blocklist eMail Domains & phone numbers after vetting them and having actual evidence at hand to avoid "collataral damage" and overblocking...

@fuomag9 granted, @stratosphere only lists what pinged / portscanned / attacked their systems and nothing else.

Which is why I use multiple blocklists simultaneously to filter traffic.

Personally I consider #ClownFlare aka. #CloudFlare to be a #RogueISP that was allowed to become #TooBigToBlock just like #Outlook.com / #Hotmail,#GMail and #YahooMail as well as #Mailbox.org are today in terms of #eMail...

@mastodonmigration depends...

In the end it's up to every server & instance admin to make a decisin.

Personally I'd recommend people who can to do #SelfHosting.

Also based off #TooBigToBlock issues with #eMail - #Spamming, I think we need to avoid creating the #Fediverse :fediverse: - equivalents of #GMail :gmail: , #YahooMail :yahoo: & #Outlook.com where said hosters get away with ignoring #abuse #reports...

Sometimes a precendent must be set and "Fix your spamming or GTFO" is reasonable.

@lexfri
mastodon.social is too big to provide consistent, instance-wide moderation and develop a consistent culture. Since it has so many accounts, there will always be accounts that make federating with it impossible for other instances.
Instances like these need to stop accepting new accounts and they need to split up.
Otherwise the fight about whether or not to block huge instances will do much damage and split the network.
