Marina was always #projecting herself onto other things-- the sad-looking signal box, for example, or the stoic crow.

This made her an ideal target for psychic cowbirds. Ordinary cowbirds are nest parasites. Psychic cowbirds are consciousness parasites--but they could only take hold if the original consciousness was elsewhere. Marina always struggled to evict the cowbirds, so you never knew when you were talking to real Marina and when you were talking to cowbird Marina.

"«BEEP» Carl, whatcha upta?" The hardsuit bent over a small package turned to Bert.
A silver arm waved slowly "«BEEP» With Earth embargoing us, gonna show the universe they're a bunch of jerks."
Bert pushed up his gold shield, "«BEEP» Yeah?" The other helmet nodded.
Blue light erupted from the lunar surface #projecting the words "Planet Jerkass" on Earth's night side in Helvetica Bold.
"«BEEP» Nice."
Over the horizon, freighters from Mars and the asteroids approached with supplies.

The claim that immigration brings on a crime wave can be traced back to the first immigrants who arrived in the U.S. Ever since the 1980s and '90s, this false narrative saw a resurgence.

[T***p] has spoken of immigrants as criminals & mentally ill people who are "poisoning the blood of our country." [Projecting.]

However, research indicates that immigrants commit less crimes than U.S.-born people.

"When I don't put my power outside of me and I give myself the space to understand the stories I'm telling and the emotions I'm feeling, what I learn is how to manage myself better within the experiences that I have in my life. I've learned to control myself in a healthy way.

I understand my limits in terms of my power and my sense of control. I recognize the pain in others that causes them to do things that project pain outwards. I don't get upset when people project their pain because I can understand that it takes a lot of courage to take responsibility for what I put out in the world. I can find compassion because I've learned not to project my own pain."
