#TheOneRing

So I’ve had the #TheOneRing starter set lying around, half-prepped (I could probably run the first adventure spontaneously, and the rest with short notice).
For our semi-open-table #TTRPG nights at the club, I usually bring it along – just in case an opportunity comes up.

Yesterday I was in a hurry and left it at home.
Didn’t think I’d need it. Never have.

Guess what happened?

@Emperohr das sind m.E. die beiden Pole, zur interessanten Gestaltung von #pnpde Reisen:
A) Full-on Storygame Modus mit Fokus auf kollaborativ gestalteten Montageszenen ODER
Dazwischen liegt nur Erzählonkelige/-tantige Brache (been there - too long, keine Empfehlung)

We need people with money and fame to use that power to liberate us from the influence of money and fame. I know that's asking a lot. To give up your power. But those tools corrupt and are being used constantly against us to control people. #TheOneRing

Instead of doing a few other good things, help us grow the fedi. If it was integrated into all media, it would end the outsized power of corporate news and platform owners and advertisers to tell us what to think about and how. Please. #SocialWeb

#TTRPG idea I’ll probably never realize: A campaign set in #MiddleEarth, following the tracklist of #BlindGuardian’s 'Nightfall in Middle-Earth"

Having the PCs take part in those big events themselves wouldn’t really work. Instead, maybe the heroes, in the Third Age, collect Elven songs and stories that match the album’s songs—perhaps for Bilbo’s collection? Along the way, they experience events that reflect those themes or visit places tied to them.

Moving along, in 2025, I'll tackle a new, weekly #OSE game (#TheHallsOfArdenVul), as well as continuing campaigns of OSE, #CallOfCthulhu, #DCCRPG, #DnD5e, #TheOneRing, and #TravellerRPG from 2024. And at the very least, I'll get to play in person at #CanCon, if not other cons and game days (possible now because I've finally settled down in a city). In all likelihood, I'll probably finally catch COVID, but that's the price of assembling in crowds these days, I guess.

That said, though, I got to play the #ADnD1e classic White Plume Mountain, an abridged version of #TravellerRPG's equally noteworthy “Ancients" saga (albeit mostly in #CypherSystem), @Splinterbone's ongoing #DnD5e #ForgottenRealms campaign, an irregular #MonsterOfTheWeek game, began campaigns of #OSE and #TheOneRing, and proudly participated in Al Smith's likely endless reimagining of #CallOfCthulhu's colossal #MasksOfNyarlathotep, featuring amongst many other embellishments…
