#Thunderstormasthma warning for #northVictoria #centralVictoria, #Gippsland regions.

Victoria's chief health officer says there is a high risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma in parts of regional Victoria.
Thunderstorm asthma is when high amounts of grass pollen and a certain type of thunderstorm combine and can cause large numbers of people to develop asthma symptoms.

#Fosterville #GoldMine won't change methods despite sparking #earthquake.

Residents who live near the mine say frequent earthquakes rock their homes and have damaged properties before.

Kath and Wayne Bordieri have felt their home quiver and rock hundreds of times from underground blasting by a nearby mine outside of #Bendigo in #CentralVictoria. #auspol

Spent a little time touching grass - or drone controls - yesterday. Out in Box Ironbark woodland, heavily modified by goldrush mining.

It was a little late in the day for mapping - however, there's a result! I'll add to this thread later.

If you're in the goldfields region and you're after some low carbon aerial imagery / mapping, get in touch! Jobs far from Bendigo might need a little extra planning :D 🚲 🚁 🗺️ 📷

Melville Caves are located in #KooyooraStatePark, #Brenanah#Australia.

They’re located in #centralvictoria #Australia in a small township named #Brenanah.

Exploring the caves was truly amazing. And we even had some friendly locals drop by for a visit!

Fun Fact; These caves are named after notorious bushranger Captain Melville who used the caves as a hiding place and lookout in the mid 19th century.

Here are some pics from the day out 👇

These pics were taken on a road trip to #Centralvictoria, specifically #Colbinabbin, late December last year.

These magic scenes are just one collection of many throughout our State (and beyond), which have been affectionately dubbed #siloart.

This collection I believe is known as ‘THE COLBINABBIN FARMERS' PICNIC’, which depicts the locals of the district coming together back in the day, for an annual chance to relax and unwind!

I marvelled at these for some time. And must admit, was taken back to a different time to those we experience today.

The quality was superb and scale of these things; epic.

#MelvilleCaves are awesome!

Childhood memories of camping here came flooding back, by the river many moons ago, after visiting recently.

They’re located in #centralvictoria #Australia in a small township named #Brenanah.

Melville Caves are located in #KooyooraStatePark in, #Victoria.

If you’re local: a day trip is a must!

Even in the cooler months it’s glorious. And check out the moss covered boulders and rock formations!

Some are huge… up to 50 feet tall I reckon. May be of interest to some of our #mosstodon enthusiasts! And #lichensubscribe (thx @cohanf)

We managed to pick a clear day and took some awesome nature snaps. And I’ll feature inside the caves, in a second post!

When in the #bush a couple of weeks ago, this rustic and gnarled #gumtree attracted my attention.

Just had to share.

This #gum’s trunk and branches are unlike many, which range from flat and smooth, to thick layered bark surfaces.

This one is unique inasmuch as it appears to look like it has been twisted laterally, in places.

Zoom in to observe… and check out the #bark that is at different stages of undress.

Some trunk sections and limbs appear not to be shedding at all and has a rough texture. It was abrasive to the touch, for sure.

#nature at its very best. #love 🤎💚

HELP!!!

Anyone know what this is?

I wanted to say #GladiolusCommunis and exclaim ‘#HelloPossums!!’

But I had a sneaking suspicion it could be something totally different.

And so too does my ID app… in fact it suggests anything from #Lobelia, #Montbretia, #CannaLily - and yes of course… #Gladiolus!

Google image search wanted to tell me it’s a gladdy… but you know what.. I’m not so sure.

Whatever it is, ‘twas snapped on my sisters farm in #Centralvictoria a few weeks back… deep red and it is happy as Larry.

Oh what the heck, I’ll just say it;
#HelloPossums!!!!

🤣🤣🤣

A domestic #olivegrove consisting of a few hundred trees in #Centralvictoria #Australia… just after #dusk.

These will be ready to pick soon.

The trees will be subject to a machine that will ‘shake’ each of them one by one carefully (and with love!), so that the olives drop on a mat and scooped up into a hopper.

This machine is called a ‘shaker’, funny enough!

We’ve had many a year prior, with dozens of peeps from near and far coming to pick for a few hours over a weekend - and rewarded with a hearty spread, vino and cheer.

Loads of strangers turn up to participate.

Olives go off to a small processing plant nearby and come back as oil. Loads of rain last year which means a bumper crop this year.

This lot will yield between 1000 - 2000 litres this year I think…

Pretty cool!
