Certainly #Linux support is often tied to specific #certified systems but any firm that can afford to license #Autodesk's Products can also afford to buy a Workstation like a #hp Z-series and a #RHEL subscription, because the users are far more expensive than the #Hardware and #Software they use. I'm pretty shure #LinusTechTips pays more for #cleaners or a #janitor even if both are externally subcontracted part-timers per year than for Adobe,,,
OFC the fact that Autodesk et. al. were allowed to de-facto #monopolize #EngineeringSoftware is a failure by #FTC, @EU_Commission and other #AntiCartel #MarketRegulators to intervene...
- And even if we have something that requires #Windows, I can assure you from my own experience that a #KVM-based #VM [regardless if on a #Workstation or a Serverfarm like a #Proxmox cluster - with or without passthrough to dedicaded Hardware] is way less labour and pain-intensive than #BareMetal just from the #Backup & Restore aspect alone that it's worth the investment...
