Layered protection works best Layered = 2 doses of the MMR vaccine + mask (KN95 or better) + HEPA filtration (air purifiers) #MeaslesIsAirborne #AirborneAware Link: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Good worldwide measles update and info here. Thanks WHN.
I learned recently that even though it’s known for its distinctive rash, #measles is a highly contagious virus that is spread through the air from coughing and sneezing. According to this page from the #CDC, the virus can be infectious for two hours in the air and on surfaces.

Whew, it's been a long while since I've signed in. Greetings from U.S.A. I swear to all the gods that there are still good people here. I'm still avoiding forced infection from a growing array of novel and nostalgic viruses. Love my trusty masks. #CovidIsNotOver #COVIDisAirborne #MeaslesIsAirborne #TBisAIRBORNE #H5N1isAirborne
@ChemicalEyeGuy just one tiny pushback: "during the COVID pandemic" is still now.
Just because it's not politically defined as a state of emergency, doesn't change the facts of transmission or prevalence.
If that seems sus, consider HIV - definitely still a pandemic, but in most of the world it's not politically an emergency.
Also while some people are poorly educated, some have been actively mis-educated and disinformed.
“The virus can stay in the air for at least two hours after someone with the #measles leaves the area.” #SARSCoV2: “Hold my beer.” #COVIDisAirborne #MeaslesIsAirborne https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/22/health/measles-child-infection/index.html
Increased Measles in Canada - Are you protected?
As Public Health crumbles and too few people are getting vaccinated for measles our herd immunity levels have dropped too much and now many people are at risk for a disease we almost eradicated in Canada. #measles #measlesisairborne #Canada 1/

NEW: #Toronto Public Health is investigating a confirmed case of #measles in an infant who is currently hospitalized.
TPH statement comes just days after Peel Public Health officials announced a case in #Mississauga, Ontario.
Note: measles symptoms take between seven and 21 days to appear after infection.
@alison of course not

"Measles virus remains active and contagious in the air or on infected surfaces for up to 2 hours."
"Measles is one of the rare diseases that you can catch by walking past someone. It's more contagious than Covid."

@harold “Measles spreads easily through the air…” Omg no, it’s airborne? Maybe WHO’s Dr. Mike Ryan will strong-arm CBC to retract this sentence. #CovidIsAirborne #MeaslesIsAirborne
I laugh because COVID-19 is vastly more transmissible than measles but the professionals *koff* in charge have not yet pivoted to appreciate/acknowledge this.
See for example this thread about measles and compare with our experience with COVID-19

#COVIDIsAirborne for sure, and more transmissible than measles #MeaslesIsAirborne

Like #COVIDisAirborne.
Well, #MeaslesisAirborne too.
But people forget, measles was droplet first.
The case studies proved it was airborne. Took about 1912->1980 or so.
