This was in the latest bookshop.org newsletter:
"Where You Shop Matters
Amazon doesn’t care about books. They don’t care about maintaining a healthy literary ecosystem where new voices are discovered and important ideas are shared. They don’t care about sponsoring your local little league team or hosting a summer reading challenge designed to keep children learning. They want you to purchase things (so. many. things.) and they don’t care when you return it and it becomes trash.
Independent bookstores aren’t just bookstores. They are pillars of their communities and supporting them means supporting all of the incredible work they do beyond selling books.
They’re invaluable. Amazon is not."
Amen to all of this. If you have an Amazon account, end it, and support your local independent book shop instead.

Before you buy on amazon, check if the product-company has their own website and order it there.
This way the shop gets the full price, and corporations have less investment.
Have a great weekend you all.
A massive thank you to the amazing team at Hibernacle, and especially to Úna Molloy and Maeve Langford-Smith, for including us in such a spectacular celebration. Last night at Orlagh House was nothing short of magical—a visual feast and an unforgettable gathering of some of Ireland’s most talented musicians. Grateful to be part of it!

Question.
Before we're putting in effort to apply for other funding, do you think our online map* is actually needed?
*a european non-commercial basic replacement for googlemaps, focused on local shops.
Share would be great, thanks!
p.s. we're aware of most current open source maps, but don't think they fit as a gmaps replacement since they are specialized in other areas.
There was a pottery studio my parents enjoyed browsing whenever we visited my grandparents. Each summer they'd buy one piece, slowly building a collection of custom earthenware; I can still see the blue butter dish with the looped handle that sat on our kitchen table.
It's no wonder that as I was browsing different shops in the #ArtisansCooperative, Salt & Sand stood out. One-of-a-kind pieces that are both beautiful and functional
