#children kidnapped in #ukraine by russians, are on a catalogue, treated like puppies! And the #kremlin official numbers are high, russians show this off. This, plus a worsening dictatorship and a worrying war economy in #russia are the premises for the #negotiation of #trump , already trying not to diminish #Putin -the only sensible thing to do-, excluding #Zelensky. If it goes as such, it will end with Putin’s #triumph and soon after more #war will follow. euronews.com/2025/08/08/stolen

1950s Triumph TR3, forgotten in an old workshop - (Urban Exploration) Urbex & Abandoned Places

Join me on a #video adventure, as I explore the unique story of this abandoned space ➡️ lostpod.space/w/1qdTzYXyNtyCHj

Today was the first time since my cataract surgery that I rode a #motorcycle . I've been back to driving cars relatively shortly after both eyes were done, so this had more to do with the fact that this weekend was the first weekend in what felt like months when one could go for a ride without having to pack a snorkel and a life jacket.

My, these motorcycle things are rather fun, aren't they?

Although I have to have a closer listen to the engine on the #Triumph as that seem to make some unexpected noises that even the ear plugs couldn't quite mask. IOW, it appears normal service is slowly resuming...

Thinking of giving up #motorbiking after my crash that wrote off my #Triumph #Bonneville

I don't want to give up but I feel very lucky to have come out alive and with only minor permanent damage.

I don't want to end it this way. I want to get back in saddle and choose to stop one day for other reasons than fear. I wish I felt ready to move on.

It's my only crash (into a wall, after not seeing gravel on corner) in 24 years of on and off riding. But I have a family to support and there's more to life.

Yesterday, I posted the rather staid Rover P4, the predecessor of the P6. Today we’re looking at the Standard Vanguard, predecessor to the Triumph 2000, and the contrast is just as great. The blue car, seen at the Great British Car Journey, is from 1952, while the grey car from the British Motor Museum is an Ensign, a more basic version of the late-fifties Vanguard Phase III model.

From 1965, Triumph opened up a new front in its war with the Rover P6 by launching the estate version of its 2000, a move to which Rover didn’t respond. Triumph was way ahead of the game with this lifestyley executive saloon based estate. The main German premium manufacturers only entered this market ten to twenty years later - and Rover’s first large estate only arrived in 2001 with the 75 Tourer. This is a late facelifted 2500 model. Snapped locally.

In 1969, Triumph launched the face-lifted Mk2 version of the 2000. Michelotti, the designer of the original car, which I posted yesterday, carried out the revamp as well. The new look was very similar to that of the Triumph Stag. In the meantime, Triumph had also started selling the more powerful 2.5-litre 2500, including a troublesome injection version, alongside the 2000. I saw this 2000 Mk2 recently in my local Tesco car park. (1/2)

After reading the last few posts, you may be wondering why Rover was so keen to upgrade the engine in the P6 2000. The answer was probably this, the P6’s main rival in the market for executive saloons, the Triumph 2000. Both cars were launched in October 1963. The Rover was probably more advanced over all but the Michelotti-designed Triumph had an in-line six-cylinder engine, which provided an edge in refinement, if not necessarily performance.
