CAPP is one of Canada’s biggest and most aggressive #FossilFuel #LobbyGroups; it held 91 meetings with government officials in 2023, second only to the #PathwaysAlliance with 104, according to a recent report by #EnvironmentalDefence. CAPP’s member companies are responsible for nearly three quarters of Canada’s annual #oil and #NaturalGas production.

#CAPP released a report yesterday saying #Emissions cap would cost them investment $$, jobs, perhaps to rile up #Albertans. The report is based on conventional #oil, but the majority of emissions are from oil sands. #AB is not (usually) so gullible; the Edmonton Journal ran the same CP article as CBC.
Which quotes one wide-eyed naif calling the cap a “reckless gamble that will devastate Canadian families and do nothing to reduce global emissions.”
