@festal @katzenberger @Gargron It should be possible to not allow #quotePosts at all, and it should be the default behaviour with allowing quote posts being #optIn.
It's what he promised. It's what he should deliver. And while he has a proven history of ignoring even the best supported change requests in the Mastodon Github, it should be the top issue until it is fixed.

When I pin posts it's because *I want people to see them*. Why the hell would I want almost all of them to be hidden?
Why was this feature rolled out by default instead of #optIn?

In general, I'm against capital punishment.
But I'm willing to make an exception for companies that re-add you to marketing mailing lists every time you make a purchase and claim you "opted in" to receive their spam.

First of all @alexisbushnell , I took Gargron's handle out of this response because I guess that he has tons of notifications and better things to do than read every disagreement.
Second, I realy hate to say, I don't like this at all, because it's not KISS.
Just display the #altText screen so people can start typing.
If they click it away several times, set it to #optIn in the settings.
