Please boost this far and wide

Our situation could use anything you can give and we will try to give back by turning this into a rescue vehicle and gene editing lab for trans, gnc and for otherkin

We need to put things together and to help where we can

Wish we weren't in a capitalist system but mutual aid is to fill the hole that capitalism creates with bullshit artificial scarcity and to help those in need
We need to create a mobile anarchist queer hackerspace this realm needs

This bus is also our home on wheels

Re: furry.engineer/@athamanatha/11

Furry.Engineer - Duct tape, hotfixes, and poor soldering!Athamanatha (@athamanatha@furry.engineer)In our 9th month of living in the Vulpibus and our car, we are still working on getting the basics up and running. We yet need to get and install enough insulation, batteries and air con to have a safely temperature controlled environment of our own in this brutal, climate change addled world. We also need to install proper plumbing and to diagnose and fix some engine problems. We have made great progress with many things, but the journey is far from over and your help continues to be needed. We are doing what we can to find more income sources, but in the meantime you are an incredible lifeline. https://paypal.me/athamanatha https://ko-fi.com/athakitsune Cashapp: $athamanatha Wise, IBAN, other options available on DM request. #mutualaid #gratitude #progress #transrights #supporttranspeople #transtransit #lgbt #lgbtqiaplus #lgbtqia #buslife #skoolie #communityhelpneeded #helpfolkssurvive2025 #helpfolkslive2025 #moneyhelp #donate #homeless #TruckStopStories #needparkingspace #tuckfrump #solarpunk #underground #support

💅 If you’ve ever thought about wearing #NailVarnish but never known where to start, maybe my tutorial can help! youtu.be/elHywEANDmE

I wanted it to be cosy, calm and empowering, just as if I was sitting next to you as we paint our nails together, and it would mean the world to me if it found its way to folks who would benefit from it.

It’s long; check the description for chapter markers.

Thank you to my beta watchers Tom, Matt and @JimMcCauley!

Based on some recent interactions with cis people, I think that we need a new word in our vocabulary.

Similar to “mansplain”…

cisplain \sis-plān\ v :
(of a cis person) explain (something) to someone, typically gender-nonconforming, in a manner regarded as uninformed, condescending, or hostile.
Example: Some male, pale, and stale GQP person cisplained the gender binary to me.

The only reason to enforce the gender binary is to uphold the patriarchy.

Trans, non-binary, agender, and gender non-conforming people threaten the concept that men are intrinsically superior.

When the gender divide is blurred, male supremacy is exposed as the flimsy con that it's always been.

It's time for a new #introduction! You can call me Calcifer or Cal, and I'm your friendly .local fire daemon.

I'm #queer (as in #weird and #nerdy, but also #pansexual and #GNC), #autistic, and generally too old and too tired to put up with people being shitty to others. But mostly, you can expect groan-worthy dad jokes, weirdly narrow references, and mild venting.

I'm a developer (mostly Go and Python these days, but plenty of other things in the ol' ash pile) who hates what software and computing has turned into through enshittification and greed. I spent a chunk of my career working on #infosec related stuff, so I know more about that than I'd like but less than an actual security professional.

I get cranky when "modern" means "complex for no real reason", and I think technology should aim to enhance the abilities and equality of all humans; I get very cranky when it's used to squander humanity, control or oppress or replace humans. I believe in #respectfulComputing (and helped coin the term).

(you can read my previous introduction if you want more context)

hackers.towncalcifer :nes_fire: (@calcifer@hackers.town)Hello H.T I've recently arrived from the Bauhaus, because you all have built a pretty sweet community here I'm old, I'm all over the place, I get nerd-sniped on the regular, and I'm very enthusiastic about tech ethics I like to fiddle with embedded stuff, particularly making stuff out of Arduino and LED pixels. I get cranky when "modern" means "we added complexity for no real reason". I think tech should aim for legibility and serve as a human enhancer; I get cranky when it's used to control or oppress or replace humans I have no patience for stupid tech holy wars -- all hardware sucks, all software sucks, the documentation is provably incorrect, and the vendors all tell lies I'm a dad -- so there will be dad jokes. I'm queer and polyam -- so there will occasionally be venting about that. I'm a nerd -- so there will be references and in-jokes aplenty

I just want to clarify first that people can absolutely use whatever terms/labels that fit best for them, and that definitions of said terms/labels can vary from person to person and that's totally fine - so if anyone reads this who has a different experience or definition to what I'm about to say, that's completely valid!

So what do people define as gender nonconforming, particularly in regards to trans people and transitioning?

I'm an afab trans guy - I also ID as bigender, and my second gender is acegender. I've been on T since April 2018, take progesterone to stop my periods, consistently dress in what is traditionally viewed as men's/masc clothing, and am typically read as male. However, I've chosen not to have any surgery and also don't bind - which means I have a visible chest.

Would this be classed as gender nonconforming?

On the one hand - I firmly believe that no body part is gendered, so I in no way view my body (pr parts thereof) as female. So therefore don't consider the presence of a chest makes you any less male/masc.

However, as things stand, the narrative around transmasc/trans male bodies is that you have top surgery. This is such a strong narrative that people insist on referring to me as pre op, and ask me when I'm having surgery or even assume that I've already had surgery, despite the fact I have openly not wanted surgery for several years now. So arguably, I'm not conforming to the expectations attached to my gender identity and presentation.

I'd be interested to see what others think - as I can kinda see both sides

I now have two redundant #fediverse presences for my photography stuff, a solo instance of pixelfed (I'm open to letting a few people I know join though) and a wordpress page:

@nonbinaryanalog

@genderqueer

They both have their strengths and in theory following just one should give you all the photos, just not at the same schedule or same amount of accompanying text.

I will start soliciting photos to retoot and doing photo sessions for #NonBinary and #GNC people. More details to come.
