I've just noticed my @Vivaldi browser saying that uBlock Origin and ScriptSafe are going to stop working in the near future, which is disappointing as I thought they were going to keep support for them.

So my question is... what #browser can I use now? OR, what plugins do I need to replace the soon-to-be-dead ones?

I've got Safari for a backup, but that's got pretty terrible #plugin support so I've never really used it as a primary browser.

#Firefox seems to be enshittifying as fast as they can, #Chrome and #Edge are both crap from a privacy point of view. All the other #Chromium browsers are based on Chrome and thus also lose the #ManifestV2 support.

I don't have millions of plugins I need, but blocking scripts seems a fairly essential feature in the web of 2025 and I don't know what other options there are at the moment...

Oh, and if the Safari mention earlier didn't give it away, I'm on an Apple Silicon Mac (and have no intention of moving to Linux ;) )

There's no guarantee @brave will support Manifest V2 after Google drops it in Chromium (which it already did I think?).

If you really want Manifest V2, use @firefox (or a fork) where its being maintained officially.

Why is deprecating manifestv2 necessary?

You can supposedly make Google #Chrome support #ManifestV2 for a while longer with this registry key:

Use that extra time wisely and migrate away from Chrome.

Who the hell cares whether your browser uses #ManifestV2 or #ManifestV3? What the average user would rather know is that uBlock Origin will NOT work as effectively with the NEXT update of your Google Chrome.

The marketing push should be "Use Firefox if you want to continue using #adblockers like #UBO."

Simple, straightforward, and to-the-point.

Your messaging should ONLY ever be about how it impacts the end-user and nothing else.

Und hier nochmal eine Erinnerung, warum wir von #Google unabhängige Browser brauchen: #uBlockOrigin, was die Browsernutzung erträglich macht, fliegt nun wegen der lang angekündigten Umstellung auf #ManifestV3 endgültig aus #Chrome / #Chromium raus. #uBlockLite ist leider komplett kastriert und kann nur rudimentär Werbung blockieren.

#Firefox unterstützt weiter #ManifestV2 und ist die Empfehlung des uBlock Origin Entwicklers gorhill. #Librewolf hat das Add-on vorinstalliert.
