It shows the Republic was already a corrupt oligarchy before the empire. The fascism was already there. The Empire was the symptom, not the cause.

I still have a small #Lenin plaster bust that I bought from #Tampere Lenin #Museum shop quarter a century ago. He’s got a crack in his skull and misses half of his other eye, but his fatherly smile hasn’t wavered.

Sometimes I’m about to throw him away, and then I don’t. It’s part of my history, I explain to myself, sounding like my home town officials relating to the bigger #Lenin bust here (currently removed from the street, tho).
