No. The USPTO reports that attorneys are being approached by foreign companies seeking to borrow their credentials or sponsor bogus support staff accounts in order to evade rules requiring foreign filers to use US licensed attorneys for their trademark applications. Participating in these scams may result in account suspension or referral to discipline.

No ‘GPT’ trademark for OpenAI

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has denied OpenAI’s attempt to trademark “GPT,” ruling that the term is “merely descriptive” and therefore unable to be registered.

(Incidentally, they refused once back in October, and this is a “FINAL” in all caps denial of the application.)
