@Blueteamsherpa any way any non-#US citizens can get that prevented from fuckup?
I.e. get @bmel to take in the #US #SeedVault boxes in #Svalbard?

More than 100,000 African #seeds put in #Svalbard Global #SeedVault for safekeeping
Seeds of 177 species from across #Africa to be stored in Norway to preserve #crop diversity in case of disaster.
Among the latest additions are seeds critical to building #climate resilience, such as the tree Faidherbia albida, which turns nitrogen into ammonia and nitrates, and Cordia africana, the Sudan teak, a tree renowned for its strength and durability.

also insbesondere die Android Fraktion.
I really like the backup function in #GrapheneOS based on #Seedvault. I know it doesn't work 100%, some apps don't support it etc. But in my case >90% of apps get backed up and restored.
This is what all Androids should have. I understand #Google doesn't want to do it because for them #Android is just a gateway to their services and when you have all your data in their cloud, you don't need such backups. But other Android vendors should have it.
Heirloom Plants, the Global Seed Vault, and your local Seed Library - a blog post from my local library:
To my surprise, Lineage OS 22 SeedVault worked near perfect to restore my apps & files to my non-root android phone from a backup in external storage.
This is the first time SeedVault has produced an acceptable result, apps which didn't get restored properly might be their own fault.
I'd like to explore and find out what makes SeedVault tick, then one day I might finally have my dream of perfect offline data restoration to a Lineage OS device.
I have a LineageOS phone (version 21, similar to Android 14). I recently backed it up with Seedvault. But "Messaging", the default SMS/MMS texting app, didn't back up (see image).
A while ago I downloaded the Fossify Message App from f-droid, but haven't used it (note "Messages" app in image). But I'm thinking perhaps this would be better. Is anyone here currently using it? And if so, does it properly back up via Seedvault?
#SeedVault automatically re-installed many of the apps I had used previously, but it did not restore any app data
Had to reset my #Android phone and re-install /e/OS. Made a backup using #ADB. The restore command did: literally nothing. Now waiting for #SeedVault to finish ...
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/28296/how-to-fully-backup-non-rooted-devices
How do I restore my phone with a #seedvault backup? So far the ONLY opportunity I encountered was after factory reset but before setup, at which point, of course, the necessary link to my cloud is not yet established. After setup and establishing the connection to my cloud it's gone for good.
What's the use in providing a method for backup/restoration, if you never may use it, because you HAVE to use it BEFORE you CAN use it. This is doing me a bamboozle.
A first backup run mostly worked, except for three apps that were reported as (!) (white ! on red circle). This is because #SeedVault imposes a limit on the size of an app's backup, so you just click the three vertical dots menu, Expert Settings and enable unlimited quota.
For reinstalling the OS I want/need to make a backup of my apps. Since I don't send info to Google, I need to use an alternative. This is where self hosting #NextCloud comes handy.
#LineageOS comes with #SeedVault, which can backup to NextCloud, but for some reason it's not recommended. Meanwhile I'm already using DAVx⁵ for accessing my calendars and contacts on NextCloud, and I can also access my NextCloud files via WebDAV, so I added a mountpoint there and used it on SeedVault.
@sadmin Ja, also #SeedVault hat zwar die meisten Apps installiert, aber kaum Daten von denen :( u.a. fehlen Daten von: #authenticatorpro, #davx5 , #tusky , #element, #firefox, #fennec , #nextcloud , #organicmap, #osmand, #heremaps , #medilog , #antennapod , #homeassistant , #syncthingFork
Auf der Habenseite: #metropolradruhr , #catima , #Octodroid, #offi
Also echt nicht viel, was funktioniert :(
In allen drei Operationsmodi (direkt, indirekt, via Installer).
