Not saying today was a disaster as every run has a purpose but running 6 minute intervals in this hot weather wasn’t the best idea. Planned on running 6 intervals but just about managed even with a 3 minute walk rest. #running #intervals #adidasrunning #runnersofmastodon #RunningCommunity

An absolute didactic marvel of a video on basic music theory.
Some great interval training today, pushed the pace a bit so I am building muscle and stamina.
Warm up
1K, 2K, 2x1K off 400m recovery.
Looking over my log, I had faster 1K repeats in this training block, but not 3 days after an 18M run, so I call that a win

New water filter at work. You choose your temp, place your cup, then put your hand over a sensor to start the water and it plays a chime, let's say a high "G" (g6). When you uncover the sensor to stop the flow, it makes another tone. Which do you think it is? Vote below -

My left calf is still sore, so I focused on form and made sure that it's nothing serious.
Swimming is more taxing on the body than I thought. My upper body was sore too yesterday.
#rowing this morning for my #workout 8 x 500m #intervals with a 2-minute rest between them. Started with a power output of ~130W and the last interval was ~155W. Might have pushed harder.
#rowing this morning for my #workout. 4 x 800m #intervals at ~150W. Felt good.
#rowing again today 7 x 500m #intervals with a 2-minute recovery between them. Overdid the third one, but I still finished the last one at a decent pace.
9 miles this lunchtime with some tempo and interval work included. 3k tempo then 4x1500m with 2 minutes rest with 15 minutes warm up and cool down. The plan was to run with max hr of 170 bpm for the tempo and 183 bpm for the 1500m reps so pace did drop due to the undulating course
3k at 5:09 min/km
1500m at 4:49 min/km
1500m at 5:04 min/km
1500m at 5:05 min/km
1500m at 5:10 min/km

A hot sweaty tough 2 x 5 minute interval workout, only managed to get out the door around lunchtime and the sun beating down didn’t help. First rep probably out too fast as the next one I faded near the end and pulled up 20 seconds short #running #intervals #halfmarathontraining #adidasrunning #runnersofmastodon #RunningCommunity #oldguysrule
Spring is in the air and a spring in my step. Intervals day today according to #polarflow half marathon training plan. 16 minutes warm up then 2x5 minutes with 2 minutes rest averaging 4:39 min/km which ain’t too shabby for someone the wrong side of 59 #running #intervals #halfmarathontraining #chesterhalfmarathon #polarrunning #RunningCommunity #runnersofmastodon #mastorunners #oldguysrule

Good thing I'm reviewing my #algebra. 'cause I ran into something that is different from when I learned it.
The way I learned it, a closed interval is recorded as [a, b], and an open interval is ]a,b[. I know it looks funky, but it makes total sense... in my head anyway.
However, I'm not seeing open intervals recorded as (a, b).
I looked online and, sure enough, both notations are in use:
https://mathresearch.utsa.edu/wiki/index.php?title=Interval_Notation
I'm not sure if the practice has changed over time, or if it is a feature of the fact that I learned algebra in French.
Now I feel old and exotic all at once. (Just kidding. )
